The Bird (shell brooch) - how I work

To create, some people need rules and tutorials, detailed plans and complete drawings, others like to be spontaneous and discover what the material want to tell them. Some big sculptors kept saying that they just took out what already was in the stone. Not comparison but I am closer to the second group. I collect many things, waiting for them to speak. This happened with this shell. I found it some years ago. I loved it’s shape and thought I knew how I want use it. But every time I tried, I realised it is not what should be. And then, this year I have got an idea. I made this bird brooch and this was it! I discovered what was in this shell. Now The Bird brooch is reserved by lovely lady and will go to it’s new home soon.
